No, not a gross genetic experiment carried out by a deranged scientist, but a handheld computer mouse. In the shape of a sardine. Brilliant! It's comfortable to hold and means that you no longer have to keep a supply of old mags to use as mouse mats. More trackball than mouse, though.

If you suffer from repetitive strain injury (RSI), common tasks such as surfing the internet, editing documents or playing games on your computer can turn into painful experiences. Spending hours delicately moving and clicking your mouse puts more strain on our wrists than we realise. Designed to reduce such injuries, The Fish, an ergonomically designed mouse, has reached our mousemats. Despite its somewhat strange appearance, The Fish is easy to get used to and rests comfortably in your hand. The scroll wheel is operated by your thumb, while underneath the body of the device, your index finger is used for 'clicking'. It works without the need for flat surfaces, which makes it ideal for people working in restricted spaces. The Fish is a USB device, so once plugged in it's ready to use, without any additional software. It's compatible with both Windows and Mac computers and the two-metre cable allows for a large amount of mobility. It would benefit from a stand to rest in when not being used, but apart from that, The Fish is a device that's easy to get to grips with and significantly reduces the risk of RSI.

Catch of the day. Serve up THE FISH with your computer chips. This nifty gizmo is a handheld mouse that simply sits snugly in your palm. It's much easier to use than the touchpad on your laptop and certainly saves some strain and pain on your wrist. Easy to set up, it just plugs straight into a free USB port and you're away. And because you don't need to roll it along a flat surface - just spin the ball with your finger - it can be used practically anywhere.

Plug it into your PC or notebook via a USB connection and away you go. Hold the little critter in one hand, using your thumb on the top to navigate the track ball and use the two trigger buttons as your right and left 'mouse' buttons.
Ice Magazine, April '04
The people at Fish must have discovered free porn as they've come up with the Fish, which requires no flat surface and is designed for 'heavy internet users'.
